Ok guys, it’s been a couple weeks now, but after continuously hunting on-line as well as running my butt around town to seat it in retail/floor model options, I think we’ve finally narrowed down the possibilities as far as the principal pieces for our new family room.
We are trying to keep it around $5K, which sounds like a decent budget, but once you realize every sofa you loooove is at least that much alone, it calls for an open mind and some creativity! We also have to keep in mind that this is the only core living space we have as a family, and it gets a lot of use and abuse- so material selections for durability and safety for the little ones has to be a priority.
Taking from my inspo photos, the common thread between all of these looks and pieces was to incorporate an even mix of light/linen or twill fabrics, steel blues, leather, and natural woods. When selecting furniture, I also was cautious of the legs and bases. You don’t want all of the pieces to have a bulky base, or all slipcovered, or all leggy. You want to mix the lines and construction of the pieces to create dimension and a well curated look.
These are the products of my sleepless mind the past two weeks. Many of my favorite pieces were repeated with different combinations:
Loving this sofa that has great reviews, and while leather is durable, it really doesn’t like spilled juice (or adult bevs) doubt that ottoman/table would either 🙁 …hmmm…:
We have a long room, but narrow space between the sofa and TV/Fireplace wall. I have to go pretty petite if we want two chairs resting next to each other, perpendicular to the sofa! I can go about 32″ wide, max, so these from Pottery Barn seem to be a great option. I will admit that since I haven’t seen them in person, they may turn out to look like kids’ chairs, so I’ll really have to think this through! Scale and measurements are EVERYTHING.
Here’s another petite pair and a more relaxed boho look that still looks refined with that sectional:
A more polished look, that might take the win all-around for comfort and durability!:
I really love this combo of furniture, but not yet sold on the longevity of the inexpensive couch. I also really like either a chaise or modified sectional to put my feet up when I get a chance to sit down! :
More decisions to make! Any input would be welcomed and appreciated!
